RMX Freight Systems is a family-owned trucking company that provides the highest quality, next day LTL service in the State of Ohio and bordering points in Kentucky, Michigan and West Virginia.
Originally founded in Roseville, Ohio in 1917 to operate as a regular route carrier, RMX served a thriving pottery industry located in the Crooksville – Roseville area. RMX ran a regular route with scheduled stops between McLuney and Zanesville, Ohio via State Route 93. Shipments of pottery were gathered from the various manufacturers located along the route and were tendered to the railroad in Zanesville for delivery to destinations as far away as the west coast. (Long haul common carrier service as we know it today was not yet in existence!)
Once empty in Zanesville, the truck would make various pick ups for delivery along the route back to Roseville. These deliveries varied from kegs of nails for the local hardware, to groceries for the market, to pharmaceuticals for the drug store. The convenience of this service to the communities along the route far outweighed the time it took to complete. It was slow going for the old truck with solid rubber tires, normally taking all day to make the forty mile round trip.
Over the years, the dynamics of the business changed but the core remained pottery. This was still the case in 1978 when a young transportation executive, Bill H. Moore, realized a lifelong dream of owning his own business by purchasing RMX from the founding family.
The next few years proved both rewarding and difficult. Within two years of purchasing RMX, the transportation industry was deregulated. The changes within the industry after deregulation were countless but included the failure of many well-known companies, the mergers of others, and the formation of new companies. This process is still continuing today.
One constant throughout all of these dramatic changes is RMX. Having stood the test of time, RMX has realized consistent growth by adapting to the changing conditions in the transportation marketplace. RMX has evolved from a railroad feeder line in 1917 into Ohio’s premier next day LTL carrier.
Today, we provide our transportation services for many different industries and have terminal operations throughout the state of Ohio in Columbus, Akron, Cleveland, Toledo, Cincinnati and Roseville. From one truck with solid rubber tires, our fleet has grown to over 50 power units and 100 trailers in lengths from 28 to 53 feet. Many of our units are equipped with liftgates, and we have a wide range of special services that are available upon request.
We distinguish ourselves from our competitors with outstanding LTL delivery service, taking great pride in our ability to meet the needs of our customers. Our service commitment is for shipments to be delivered the next business day to all points in the State of Ohio and bordering points in Kentucky, Michigan and West Virginia.
